The Minister of Internal Affairs, Ali Yerlikaya, has announced that a total of 25 suspects have been caught in the “Cybereye-8” operations, which took place in 10 provinces across Turkey. The suspects are accused of committing qualified fraud through the use of information systems.

The operations were carried out simultaneously in 8 provinces, including Istanbul, Muğla, Kocaeli, Siirt, Ankara, Antalya, Çanakkale, and Erzincan. Additionally, operations were conducted in Kastamonu and Mersin by the Kastamonu Cyber ​​Crimes Branch Directorate.

Minister Yerlikaya revealed in a social media post that the suspects had posed as “Investment Advisors” and defrauded citizens by promising high profits through Forex investment. These individuals reportedly obtained $211,500 in illicit profits, as well as debit or credit cards and GSM numbers belonging to others. It was also discovered that they utilized GSM lines for illegal betting transactions. During the operation, authorities seized pistols, 338 thousand TL and 22 thousand 400 dollars in cash, as well as digital materials, laptops, mobile phones, and SIM cards.

The minister emphasized that the operations to combat cyber crimes continue, reaffirming the government’s commitment to preventing and punishing fraudulent activities carried out through information systems.
