“Cyprus: 50 Years of Operation” Photo Exhibition Opens in Ankara

The oldest and most prestigious newspaper in Ankara, in cooperation with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Embassy in Ankara, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, and the Journalists Association, has opened the “Cyprus in the 50th Year of the Operation” photography exhibition at the art centers Zafer Bazaar Exhibition Hall.

During the opening ceremony, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Ambassador to Ankara, İsmet Korukoğlu, spoke about the historical suffering of the Turkish Cypriot people. He highlighted the importance of the Republic of Turkey’s Peace Operation in saving the Turkish Cypriot people from extinction and restoring their life security, freedom, and homeland rights in accordance with international agreements.

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş emphasized the importance of memorializing those who were martyred and fought for their rights as a way to educate future generations about the events of the past.

Curated by Ateş İlbaşı, the exhibition features photographs from the archives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Information Department and the Journalists Association. The exhibition will be open for visitors until July 26th, providing a unique insight into the history and struggle of the Turkish Cypriot people.
