Cyprus Gates and Crates Museum Celebrates Grand Opening with Ceremony
President Ersin Tatar recently attended the opening of the Cyprus Gates and Funds of Cyprus, a museum that showcases Turkish Cypriot culture and history. The event was organized under the auspices of the Presidency and led by President Tatar’s wife, Sibel Tatar.
During his speech at the event, President Tatar highlighted the significant contribution of the Republic of Turkey in supporting the institutions and organizations in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). The opening ceremony of the Museum of Cyprus and the Museums of Cyprus took place at the Nicosia Mujahideen Site, where President Tatar, Mrs. Tatar, and the Director of the Department of Antiquities and Museums, Emine Ziba, made speeches.
President Tatar expressed his satisfaction in inaugurating the second museum within the Turkish Preparation Organization building, following the earlier museum dedicated to the history of the Turkish Cypriot struggle. He emphasized the importance of preserving the cultural heritage of the island, which has been influenced by numerous civilizations over the centuries.
Mrs. Sibel Tatar also addressed the audience, emphasizing the duty to safeguard and exhibit the cultural values of the Turkish Cypriot people for future generations. She shared details about the museum’s collection, which includes original chests and replica gates representing the island’s rich heritage.
Emine Ziba, the Director of the Department of Antiquities and Museums, highlighted the collaborative efforts to preserve cultural heritage and promote tourism, culture, and youth development. The event was praised for its role in showcasing the unique architectural diversity and traditional craftsmanship of Cyprus.
