Dara Foundation Showcases Kazakh and Central Asian Art at Edinburgh Fringe Festival
ASTANA – The Dara Talent Support Foundation recently hosted the Fringe Fusion: Kazakhstan and Global Art Partnerships event as part of the renowned Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Edinburgh on Aug. 20. The event, aimed at advancing the region’s creative industry and performing arts on a global scale, was reported by the foundation’s press service.
According to the foundation’s president, Assel Shildebayeva, establishing international partnerships with leading cultural platforms will greatly increase interest in Kazakhstan’s creative industries. She noted that this collaboration will contribute to the further development of creative projects and their integration into the global creative space, emphasizing the necessary and systematic nature of the process.
The event featured presentations on the contemporary art of Kazakhstan by speakers such as Togzhan Kurmanzhanova of the ÓzgeEpic creative group, Anastasia Tarasova of the ARTiSHOK theater, Aigul Imanbayeva of A.I. Theater, and dramatist Olga Malysheva. Additionally, a panel discussion on bringing local performing arts to the global stage was moderated by Karen Toftegaard, the director and Strategic Advisor for Creative Organizations and Personalities from Denmark.
Director of the communications and marketing department at the foundation, Bibigul Makazhanova, expressed the foundation’s plans to develop support tools for the growth of Kazakhstan’s creative economy. The ultimate goal is to create international partnerships that highlight Kazakh talents and provide opportunities for their sustainable development.
The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, which has been held annually since 1947, is known as one of the world’s largest platforms for theatrical, musical, and comedy performances. The collaboration between Kazakhstan and global art partners at the festival signifies a significant step towards showcasing the country’s creative talents on an international stage.
