Deadline for Second Installment of Additional Property Tax is Tomorrow
The Revenue Administration Reminds Vehicle Owners About Payment Deadline
The Revenue Administration (GİB) has issued a reminder to vehicle owners regarding the payment deadline for the second installment of the additional Motor Vehicle Tax (MTV). According to the announcement on the GİB website, the payment period for the second installment of the additional MTV is set to end tomorrow.
The additional MTV regulation was implemented in response to the financing requirements stemming from the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş. The first installment payment period for the supplementary MTV concluded on September 6, generating approximately 13.2 billion lira in revenue, meeting 87 percent of the targeted collection.
In accordance with the regulations, vehicle owners who fail to make the payment on time will be subject to late payment interest. The payment period for the second installment is scheduled to end on November 30, and vehicle owners who miss the deadline will be charged a monthly delay interest rate of 3.5 percent.
Payments for the additional MTV can be made through various channels including the GİB website, Interactive Tax Office, Revenue Administration Mobile application, bank accounts, branches, mobile, telephone and internet banking, as well as tax office cash desks and PTT branches.
It is crucial for vehicle sales and transfer transactions that both the regular Motor Vehicle Tax and the additional MTV are paid. Failure to pay the additional MTV will result in the inability to undergo vehicle inspections, as well as registration closures due to withdrawal from traffic, scrapping, and taking vehicles abroad.
In addition to the reminder about the additional MTV payment, the GİB also highlighted that the deadline for the 2023 Property Tax second installment payment is ending tomorrow. Furthermore, the period for creating and signing electronic ledgers and uploading electronic ledger certificates to the Revenue Administration information processing system has been extended until the end of Tuesday, December 5.
