
Deadly Armed Attack Strikes Prague

15 dead and 24 injured in shooting attack at Charles University Faculty of Philosophy in Prague
An armed attack on the Faculty of Philosophy of Charles University, located in Jan Palach Square in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, has resulted in a tragic number of casualties. The police announced that the number of people who lost their lives in the attack has increased to 15, with 24 others injured.
According to the police, the attacker, 24-year-old David Kozak, was a university student who had been under suspicion for killing his father at his home in Kladno in the morning. Kozak committed the attack alone and took his own life following the incident.
The police also announced that they had accessed the attacker’s social media correspondence, which revealed his intentions to go to school after killing his father. As a precautionary measure, the school was evacuated, but Kozak went to another building and carried out the attack from there.
Czech Interior Minister Vit Rakusan stated that the attack was not related to terrorism. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Öncü Keçeli expressed condolences to the families of the victims and assured that no citizens were harmed in the incident. The embassy is in contact with the Czech authorities and has provided the contact information for the Prague Embassy for citizens in need.
European Union leaders, including President Ursula von der Leyen, President Charles Michel, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and French President Emmanuel Macron, have all expressed their condolences to the families of the victims and offered their support to the Czech people.
The tragic incident has left the international community in mourning, and leaders from around the world have come forward to express their solidarity with the Czech Republic during this difficult time.
