Deadly Attack on Police Convoy in Pakistan
A police convoy in Pakistan’s Rahimyar Khan district of Punjab province was attacked by armed men with rockets and heavy weapons, resulting in the deaths of 12 police officers.
According to a report by Geo News television, the incident took place as the convoy was passing by a river. More than 20 police officers in two squad cars were ambushed by the attackers.
Police officials stated that 11 officers lost their lives in the attack, 7 were injured, and one of the injured later succumbed to his injuries. The area where the attack occurred has been known to have a presence of armed groups, prompting security forces to conduct multiple operations to combat these groups.
The attack on the police convoy highlights the ongoing security challenges faced by authorities in certain regions of Pakistan.
