Fatal Shooting Incident Occurs in Adana District
A deadly shooting incident took place in the Havutlu District of the central Yüreğir district during the night. Two brothers, Serkan and Erkan Gelen, allegedly visited their cousin, Samet Ç., with whom they had an ongoing dispute over financial matters. What started as a verbal argument between the cousins quickly escalated into a physical fight. During the altercation, Samet Ç. retrieved a shotgun from his house and opened fire on his cousins. Tragically, both brothers collapsed in pools of blood, while Samet Ç. managed to flee the scene. Upon receiving notification, local police and medical teams rushed to the location.
Following immediate medical intervention, Erkan Gelen was transported to Yüreğir State Hospital, while his elder brother, Serkan Gelen, was taken to Adana City Training and Research Hospital. Despite the medical team’s efforts, Erkan Gelen succumbed to his injuries. His body was later transferred to the Adana Forensic Medicine Institute for an autopsy. As for Serkan Gelen, he is currently undergoing treatment, and his condition remains unknown.
Authorities were able to apprehend the escaped suspect, Samet Ç., who was found in possession of the shotgun used in the crime. The suspect has been taken into custody and is currently being interrogated by the police.
This unfortunate incident highlights the need for peaceful resolution methods and the dangers of resorting to violence. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and further details are expected to emerge as it progresses.
