Izmir Police Catch Suspect for Forgery and Fraud

A coordinated effort by the Karşıyaka Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Izmir Police Department Financial Crimes Branch Directorate has led to the arrest of F.Y in Karşıyaka. The suspect faces charges of “forgery of official documents” and “qualified fraud”.

During a body search of the suspect, law enforcement officials seized many envelope-shaped documents with signature sections cut into boxes and bills placed underneath.

According to reports, the suspect, who identified himself as a postman or courier, allegedly approached citizens under the pretense of delivering a notification. He then persuaded them to sign promissory notes, which were hidden under the notification envelope cut in the shape of a box.

After the completion of necessary procedures at the police station, the suspect was taken to the courthouse and subsequently released on condition of judicial control by the criminal judgeship of peace on duty.

In light of these events, police officials have urged citizens to be cautious and report any suspected cases of forgery and fraud, particularly those involving the “window method”. It is important for the public to remain vigilant in order to prevent falling victim to such criminal activities.
