Dedicated to Education: Investing in Learning and Training

The 2025 budgets of the ministries of Family and Social Services and National Education were accepted at the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly.

After the speeches on the budget, a question-answer session began at the General Assembly. Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin responded to criticism regarding the protocols made with some non-governmental organizations.

Tekin mentioned that around 5 billion 895 million lira was paid to non-profit organizations from the 2024 budget of his Ministry. He clarified that the payments made to international organizations like UNESCO and the Turkish Maarif Foundation were for specific purposes related to education and training. He dismissed claims that money was transferred to non-governmental organizations for purposes other than education and emphasized that the Ministry does not allocate funds for activities like concerts.

Addressing concerns about village schools being closed, Tekin stated that they are prepared to reopen these schools if there is a demand, even if there is only one student. Regarding teacher recruitment interviews, he highlighted the fairness and transparency of the process.

Following the discussions and speeches, the budgets of the ministries of Family and Social Services and National Education were approved at the General Assembly. Despite the challenges and criticisms, the government remains committed to ensuring quality education and social services for the people of Turkey.
