Defendants in Tekel Dealer Attack Before Judge for First Defense
The deadly incident that occurred in Esenyurt, Istanbul on July 28 has resulted in a swift response from law enforcement and the start of an ongoing trial. A group of individuals shot and killed 20-year-old Batuhan Bayındır and 24-year-old Yunus Emre Erzen after a verbal altercation at a liquor store.
The suspects involved in the shooting managed to flee the scene but were quickly apprehended. Among the accused individuals, 4 people, including Murat Özer, have been arrested.
The trial began with the 4 detained defendants using the SEGBİS system at the Bakırköy 2nd High Criminal Court. The families of the two deceased, together with their lawyers, were present at the hearing.
During the court session, detained defendant Tarık Özer claimed that there was a financial dispute he had with one of the deceased’s family members prior to the incident. He mentioned that he had taken legal action after a payment dispute involving a substantial sum of money.
