An Antalya doctor faces a lawsuit for multiple sexual assault allegations
An Antalya doctor named Ahmet Taner C. is facing serious allegations of sexual assault after several female patients came forward with complaints against him. The doctor, who has been working as a specialist in the Gastroenterology department at Kepez State Hospital for 5 years, was arrested on March 15 by the criminal judgeship of peace.
The accusations against Ahmet Taner C. include sexually assaulting several female patients during their examinations. The Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has filed a lawsuit against the doctor for ‘qualified sexual assault’ and ‘abuse of office’. The patients involved in the case, including FD, FK, TA, DB, NS, and SU, attended the first hearing at the Antalya 4th High Criminal Court.
During the hearing, Ahmet Taner C. defended himself by claiming that the accusations were unfounded and that he had been wrongly accused. He explained that he has been a physician for 33 years, specializing in gastroenterology for the past 10 years. The doctor also mentioned that he had to perform rectal examinations on patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and that he always followed proper medical procedures.
Ahmet Taner C. argued that IBS is a psychological disorder that requires aggressive examination and lifelong treatment. He stated that the accusations were a result of misperceptions by the patients and that he had never acted inappropriately during examinations. The doctor also mentioned that the hospital had initially failed to provide him with a nurse during his work at Kepez State Hospital.
The court has postponed the hearing to gather more evidence and hear from witnesses. The case has sparked a debate about the proper conduct of medical professionals and the importance of patient consent and respect during medical examinations.
