Defense Industry President Görgün Reveals Meeting with Guardians of the ‘Blue Homeland’ at Sea
The indomitable guardians of the Blue Homeland have found their place in the sea as Defense Industry President Haluk Görgün announced the launch of the MİLGEM İSTİF Class frigates, İZMİR and İZMİT. These national ships, built in partnership with TAİS and STM under the coordination of the Defense Industry Presidency, represent a new era for Turkey’s naval capabilities.
TCG İSTANBUL (F-515), a previous delivery of the İSTİF Class Frigate, sets the standard for these new frigates, with over 80 percent of their equipment being locally produced and utilizing high technology. These ships will serve as a symbol of power and determination for the nation in the world’s seas, honoring the legacy of great sailors such as Çaka Bey, Barbaros Hayrettin Pasha, Turgut Reis, and Oruç Reis.
Görgün expressed his gratitude to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for his unwavering support of Turkey’s defense industry and noted the country’s progress towards becoming a strong maritime power under his guidance. He also thanked all the companies and individuals involved in the project, highlighting the contributions of organizations such as Anadolu Shipyard, Sedef Shipyard, Sefine Shipyard, ASELSAN, and HAVELSAN.
