Turgay Başyayla Promotes Cypriot Culture and Cuisine
Turgay Başyayla, a popular folk music artist and TRT program producer from Turkey, has recently shot two episodes of the “Delicious Recommendation” program in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
The program, which is scheduled to be broadcast on TRT screens on January 20 and 27, aims to introduce TRNC and Turkish Cypriot culture and cuisine to the audience.
Başyayla, who completed his university education at Eastern Mediterranean University, expressed his happiness in contributing to the promotion of the country. He emphasized that he loves Cyprus and its people, and is eager to introduce the country through the gastronomy and travel program.
Highlighting the rich historical and cultural heritage, natural beauties, and diverse gastronomy of the TRNC, Başyayla emphasized that there is a need to diversify tourism in the country and organize gastronomy festivals.
In addition to shedding light on the cultural diversity of TRNC, Başyayla also shared his favorite flavors in Cypriot cuisine, naming molehiya and kolakas as his preferred dishes. He also stressed that the country’s gastronomy, which focuses on meat and herbs, is a reflection of the culinary traditions found in Anatolia.
