Demolition of Building Hit by IETT Bus Completed
Demolition Work Completed for Damaged Building in Istanbul
The demolition works for the 4-storey building in Orhangazi Neighbourhood in Pendik, Istanbul, have been completed after it was damaged by an İETT bus. The incident, which took place on August 7, saw the bus crash into an electric cargo motorcycle and a barber shop before hitting the building.
Six people were injured in the accident and were immediately taken to the hospital for treatment. As a precaution, the building was evacuated and its utilities such as electricity, water, and natural gas were cut off. It was later discovered that the building’s column had been severely damaged, leading to the decision to demolish the structure.
After placing steel support columns on the ground floor of the building, the İETT bus was lifted with the help of a crane. The demolition work, which began yesterday afternoon, continued until evening and is now complete. Cleanup work is expected to commence once the rubble has been removed from the site.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety of buildings in the area and calls for stricter measures to prevent such accidents from happening in the future. Authorities are investigating the cause of the incident and are working to ensure the safety of residents in the neighborhood.
