DEMs Warned to Avoid Terrorist Groups in Politics
Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç Addresses Press on Closure Case Against DEM Party
At a reception held at the GNAT Ceremony Hall in honor of the 104th anniversary of the Turkish Grand National Assembly and the 23 April National Sovereignty and Children’s Day, Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç took the opportunity to address the press on the current political situation.
In response to questions regarding the call for a closure case against the DEM Party, made by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, Minister Tunç emphasized the importance of upholding the law and the Constitution. He stated, “If a crime has been committed in law, if there is a violation of the Constitution or law, the competent authorities will step in and do what is necessary.”
Minister Tunç pointed out that the DEM Party has shown support for terrorist organizations and failed to distance itself from them. Due to these actions, a closure case was also filed against the HDP. He emphasized the need for political parties to reject violence and terrorism in order to engage in democratic politics.
Furthermore, Minister Tunç highlighted the importance of standing against terrorism, especially in a country that has been fighting against it for decades. He stated that those who fail to do so and instead support violence and terrorism will face consequences in the democratic state of law.
