Denizbank Releases Statement on Million-Dollar Fund Robbery

A statement has been made by Denizbank in regards to the recent fraud case involving Seçil Erzan, who is alleged to have defrauded numerous individuals including well-known football figures such as Fatih Terim, Arda Turan, Fernando Muslera, and Emre Belözoğlu. The bank expressed regret that the incident, involving a former employee, has caused public concern despite having no affiliation with the bank.
The bank also revealed that no complaints had been received until April 7th, when a customer visited the branch to report the incident. Despite the incidents occurring nearly a year ago, no requests or complaints had been made to the bank prior to that date. Following the complaint, the matter was swiftly reported to the bank’s Inspection Board and subsequently to the General Manager.
Efforts to reach Seçil Erzan proved unsuccessful, prompting an application to the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office for a travel ban. The bank also emphasized the confidentiality requested in the file in order to protect the personal rights of those involved, many of whom are prominent figures in the football and business worlds.
Furthermore, the statement clarified the bank’s stance on non-compliance with the victims’ demands for payment. The bank stressed that making payments without a court decision would constitute embezzlement and would breach banking regulations.
The bank also dismissed the documents presented by the claimants, stating that they were produced by Erzan outside of the banking system and were created after the collapse of the pyramid scheme. The bank indicated that it was not possible to make payments based on such unverified documents, emphasizing that all banking laws and regulations are based on recorded transactions and documents issued in connection with them.
In conclusion, Denizbank has taken a firm stance regarding the allegations and has reassured the public that it had no involvement in the fraudulent activities carried out by Seçil Erzan, who is currently evading contact.
