The Ankara University of Social Sciences (ASBU) recently organized the Rauf R. Denktaş Panel and Photography Exhibition to commemorate the 101st anniversary of his birth. Serim emphasized Denktaş’s versatility as a statesman, lawyer, diplomat, intellectual, teacher, and artist, noting that he was a source of inspiration for the entire Turkish world.

President Ersin Tatar also addressed the audience, discussing Denktaş’s approach to the two-state solution and his unwavering commitment to the Turkish Cypriot cause. Tatar praised Denktaş’s leadership during the National Struggle and the 1974 Peace Operation, noting his sacrifices and dedication to the Turkish Cypriot people.

Tatar criticized the opposition’s willingness to give up the guarantee of the Republic of Turkey, emphasizing the importance of preserving Turkish Cypriot sovereignty. He reiterated the need for the TRNC to be part of any agreement concerning the region.
