“Dent discovered in damaged Malatya home”

Another Earthquake in Malatya Strikes Abandoned House
In the early hours of the morning on February 19th, an earthquake struck the Göztepe District of the Battalgazi district in Malatya. At approximately 02:10, a dent occurred in the back of a detached house on Lavanta Street which had already been evacuated due to damage caused by previous earthquakes on February 6th.
Immediately upon receiving notification of the collapse, police, AFAD, UMKE, and fire brigade teams were dispatched to the area. After the residents of the street reported that there may be a person trapped under the rubble, the teams initiated search and rescue operations. Fortunately, no one was found under the rubble.
Despite the continued risk of the remainder of the building collapsing, the teams successfully completed their search and rescue operations. The area was secured to ensure the safety of those living nearby.
This latest earthquake is a reminder that the ongoing aftershocks following the major earthquake that struck the region several weeks ago continue to pose a risk to local residents. People are being advised to remain vigilant and take precautions to ensure their safety during this time. The government has also pledged its continued support for the region, including providing aid to those who have been affected by the recent earthquakes.
