Destructive Storm Strikes Burdur: Roofs Gone, Lightning Strikes, Fire Erupts
Heavy rain and storms wreak havoc in Burdur’s Yeşilova district
The residents of Burdur’s Yeşilova district faced a turbulent day yesterday as heavy rain and storms swept through the area, causing destruction and chaos. One unfortunate incident occurred in Orhaniye village, where a house caught fire after being struck by lightning around 7:00 pm. Fortunately, the fire crews were quick to respond and were able to extinguish the flames before they spread further. However, the house was left unusable due to the damage caused by the fire.
In another part of the district, the village of Çeltek also suffered the consequences of the storm, as the roofs of three houses were blown off. Despite the significant damage to the properties, no casualties or injuries were reported.
Yeşilova Mayor Okan Kurd wasted no time in visiting the affected villages to offer his support and well wishes to the residents. In a statement posted on his social media account, Mayor Kurd expressed his relief that no lives were lost in the incidents. He said, “The situation in Çeltek village was precarious when the roofs of three houses were ripped off by the heavy rain and storm. We are thankful that there were no casualties or injuries.” He also acknowledged the efforts of the emergency teams in controlling the fire in Orhaniye village, adding, “Our biggest relief is that there were no fatalities. Wishing a speedy recovery to all those affected.”
As the residents of Yeşilova district begin the process of repairing and rebuilding, the community is coming together to support one another during this challenging time. It serves as a reminder of the resilience and strength of the residents in the face of natural disasters.
