The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on the Creative Industries Explored at Digital Bridge Forum
Astana, Kazakhstan – The Digital Bridge Forum in Astana recently hosted a panel session that examined the influence of artificial intelligence (AI) on the landscape of the creative industries. Experts gathered to discuss the potential of AI and the importance of respecting creators in the development of AI systems.
Renowned film director and producer Timur Bekmambetov highlighted the significance of educating AI systems with respect for their creators. He emphasized that AI avatars have the ability to resemble and interact with individuals, raising ethical considerations. Moreover, he discussed the challenges of identifying whether AI technology was used in voice generation, emphasizing the need for mechanisms to distinguish between real and fake voices.
Mikhail Bychanok, the founder of MediaCube financial app for YouTubers, acknowledged the progress made by Kazakhstan in emerging industries. Bychanok praised the country’s Astana Hub International Technopark of IT startups and Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) for driving growth. He also advised YouTube creators to focus on regularity in content production and utilize relevant features. Bychanok mentioned YouTube’s new format called shorts, which has gained significant traction, amassing 70 billion views daily.
Bychanok also highlighted the importance of YouTube differentiating content produced by AI from content created by humans. While he doubted the ability of AI to produce full-length films independently, he believed in a future of collaboration between humans and AI.
Yernar Kurmashev, the executive producer and founder of Astana Film Fund, expressed gratitude for the organizers behind the digitalization initiatives in Kazakhstan. He emphasized the necessity for significant tax benefits and support for creators in the creative industries.
Olzhas Baimagambetov, the head of music projects at the VK partner service, discussed the multicultural aspect of Kazakhstan’s creative industries, noting both Western influence and an eastern mentality. Ernist Umetaliyev, the founder of the DBillions YouTube project brand, stressed the importance of developing copyright laws in Central Asia.
The panel session also agreed on the need for responsible restrictions on children’s use of new technologies and the implementation of progressive programs to enhance educational opportunities for the younger generation.
