Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Condemns Israel’s Attacks on Gaza
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Uraloğlu recently spoke out against Israel’s attacks targeting innocent people in Gaza at the opening ceremony of the Anamur Ferry and Seaplane Pier. He expressed his condolences for Ismail Haniye, the head of Hamas Political Bureau who was assassinated in Iran, and declared a one-day national mourning in his honor.
During his speech, Uraloğlu reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to supporting peace in Palestine under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. He emphasized that Turkey is prepared to take all necessary steps to achieve lasting peace in the region. Uraloğlu also offered prayers for Haniye and the Palestinians who lost their lives in the attacks.
In addition to addressing the current events in Gaza, Minister Uraloğlu discussed the development of transportation and infrastructure projects in the city of Mersin. He highlighted the Çukurova International Airport, Çeşmeli-Kızkalesi Highway Project, expanded Mersin International Port, and the Mersin-Adana-Osmaniye-Gaziantep High-Speed Train Line as key initiatives to meet the growing transportation needs of the region.
The Anamur Ferry and Seaplane Pier, which was recently opened, is expected to enhance connectivity between Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Minister Uraloğlu noted that the Anamur-Girne route has become the shortest sea route between the two countries, with passenger services now available from the Anamur Pier to the Kyrenia Port.
Since its opening, the Anamur Ferry and Seaplane Pier has facilitated the transportation of thousands of passengers, contributing to the economic and tourism activities of the district and the region. Minister Uraloğlu praised the positive impact of the pier on the local economy and emphasized its significance for the region’s development.
Looking ahead, Minister Uraloğlu outlined plans for future transportation projects in Mersin, including the completion of the Çeşmeli-Kızkalesi highway project and the Mersin-Adana-Osmaniye-Gaziantep High-Speed Train Project. He also announced initiatives to promote the Blue Economy and Marine Area Planning studies to strengthen maritime activities in the region.
