Disabled Youth Turn Soldiers: A Day of Empowerment

Disabled young people who could not fulfill their military service had the opportunity to experience a special ceremony at the Provincial Gendarmerie Command in Siirt, Turkey. The event, held in conjunction with the 10-16 May World Disability Week, allowed these young individuals to temporarily become soldiers for a day.

During the ceremony, the young people donned gendarmerie uniforms and placed their hands on the Turkish flag and weapons as they took the oath. The Governor expressed his gratitude to everyone involved in organizing the event, stating, “We shared the happiness of our special brothers, whose hearts are full of love for the country, and presented them with discharge certificates. Love of the country knows no obstacles under any circumstances.”

He emphasized that military service is a duty that every young person aspires to fulfill and expressed confidence that these young people, when called upon to defend their homeland, would excel in their responsibilities.

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of discharge certificates to the young participants and a demonstration by trained dogs.
