The demand for dog-friendly beaches is on the rise in Hungary, with 22 designated locations already available for owners and their dogs to enjoy some fun in the sun, as reported by Turizmus.com.
Krisztián Máté, co-founder of the website kutyabarathelyek.hu, shared that more beaches are opening their doors to accommodate guests with dogs. The key requirements for these dog-friendly locations include maintaining a suitable distance from beaches designated for humans only, ensuring proper waste disposal, and providing access to the water if needed.
According to co-founder Zsófia Hornyák-Schmidt, establishing certified dog-friendly places not only attracts more visitors but also promotes tourism in the local municipalities. With approximately 3 million dog owners in the country, this demographic represents a significant portion of domestic tourism.
However, it is crucial to adhere to the rules and regulations of dog bathing areas. Only dogs that have been de-wormed, vaccinated, and microchipped are allowed to use these designated waterfront areas. Dogs that are sick, injured, or in heat should not be brought to these dog beaches to ensure the safety and well-being of all visitors, including other dogs, their owners, and the natural wildlife.
In addition to providing a list of dog-friendly beaches, the website also offers valuable tips for visiting the beach with your dog. It is advised to swim only in safe places to avoid potential hazards such as sharp debris, hazardous waste, or deep cold water. Using dog sunscreen every 4 hours and providing protective clothing for dogs with little fur can prevent sunburn. It is also recommended not to allow dogs in the water with a hot body to avoid sudden temperature changes.
Overall, the increasing availability of dog-friendly beaches in Hungary provides dog owners with more opportunities to enjoy the summer season with their beloved pets.
