Discovering Lion Fish and Goose Neck Sea Mussels in Ayvalık: A First-Time Viewing Experience
For the first time ever, live lion fish and goose neck sea mussels were observed off the coast of Ayvalık in Balıkesir’s district.
Fisheries Engineer and Professional Diver Nedim Kartal made the groundbreaking discovery while diving in the waters of Ayvalık. Using an underwater camera, he was able to capture footage of the lion fish and goose neck sea mussels in their natural habitat.
Kartal expressed his excitement at witnessing the lion fish living in Ayvalık for the first time. He also highlighted the importance of protecting species like the goose neck sea mussels, which belong to the ‘Barnacle’ class of sea shells. These creatures play a vital role in maintaining the health of sea meadows.
This discovery not only sheds light on the diverse marine life in the waters of Ayvalık but also emphasizes the need for conservation efforts to protect these unique species for future generations to enjoy.
