Discussion on Amendments to Municipalities and Zoning Laws in the Assembly of the Republic
The Assembly of the Republic recently held a meeting to discuss draft amendments to the Municipalities Law and the Zoning Law. The meeting was convened by the Provisional and Special Committee Established to Discuss the Draft Laws on Harmonization of the European Union, under the chairmanship of UBP Deputy Committee Chairman Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu.
During the meeting, the articles of the Municipalities (Amendment) Draft Law and the General of the Reconstruction (Amendment) Draft Law were thoroughly examined and debated. The discussions on these draft amendments will continue in the future.
Several officials and representatives from various departments and organizations were present at the committee meeting as invited guests. These included representatives from the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Economy and Energy, Environmental Protection Department, City Planning Department, Construction Contractors Association, Green Peace Movement, Cyprus Environment Platform, Chamber of City Planners, Union of Municipalities, and Union of Chambers of Architects and Engineers.
Aside from Chairman Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu, other attendees at the meeting included Deputy Chairman of the Committee CTP Deputy Şifa Çolakoğlu, UBP MPs Hüseyin Çavuş and Ahmet Savaşan, CTP Deputy Fide Kürşat, Deputy Chairman of the Assembly of the Republic and CTP Deputy Fazilet Özdenefe, CTP Deputy Fikri Toros, and Independent MPs Ayşegül Baybars and Jale Refik Rogers.
The discussions held in this committee meeting serve as a crucial step in the process of amending the Municipalities Law and the Zoning Law. The Assembly of the Republic aims to ensure the harmonization of these laws with the regulations and requirements of the European Union.
