Diver Preparing for Exam and New Salary Recipient Arrested in Fatal Accident

Fatal Accident Claims Two Lives in Istanbul

Tragedy struck on June 20 at around 21:30 on Ömer Türkçakal Boulevard in Istanbul. A jeep, with plate number 41 GK 691, driven by GK, collided with a car driven by SA. The jeep skidded, hitting pedestrians Muhammed Ali Kraan and Ayberk Erkut, who tragically lost their lives in the accident. The jeep then crashed into a wall and rolled over, resulting in the fatalities.

Muhammed Ali Kraan, a recent graduate of Kocaeli University’s Department of Mechanical Engineering, had just started working at a private company and received his first salary before the accident. Kraan’s body was laid to rest in Esenyurt, Istanbul.

Ayberk Erkut, the only child in his family, had been studying medicine abroad for two years. He returned to his home country this year to prepare for the university entrance exam. Erkut was buried at Ayazma City Cemetery following a funeral prayer held at Tınaz Tepe Orta Mosque.

Following the tragic incident, police launched an investigation and reviewed camera footage, determining that drivers SA and İ.Ö., of the car with plate number 81 ACC 964, were driving recklessly and caused the accident. All three drivers involved, GK, SA, and İ.Ö., were arrested for their roles in the accident. GK was charged with ‘causing death by negligence’, while SA and İ.Ö. faced charges of ‘causing an accident and improper overtaking’. The court subsequently ordered their arrest.
