Hungarian Soldiers Shine at World Parachuting Championship
Ensign Tamás Varga and the Hungarian team made their mark at the 46th World Military Parachuting Championship, held by the International Military Sports Council (CISM) in Szolnok, Hungary. Varga claimed second place in the individual accuracy landing event, while the Hungarian team secured third place in the team accuracy landing competition.
Brigade Commander Tamás Bali commended the soldiers for their outstanding performance, emphasizing the tough competition they faced from thirty-five nations participating in the championship. He also highlighted the impressive achievements of the Chinese, Germans, Qataris, and Americans in various events.
The Hungarian Army helicopters ensured the safety of the jumps and competition, resulting in zero injuries during the championship. Additionally, the collaboration between the General Staff and MouldTech Systems Kft. enabled drone meteorological measurements to provide crucial data on wind conditions and atmospheric characteristics for the organizers.
Meteorologists from the 86th Kiss József Helicopter Brigade utilized this information to make accurate forecasts, contributing to the smooth and successful conduct of the championship. Notable winners from the event include Samuel Wallrath, Tatjana Gustke, and Elischa Weber of Germany, as well as Lukas Zwicker, Jao Xiao, and Stefan Wiesner.
The South Korean women’s team and the Belgian men’s team claimed victory in the formation skydiving category, while the Chinese women’s team and the Czech men’s team excelled in accuracy landing, with the Hungarian team clinching bronze in the latter event.
Looking ahead, the next World Parachuting Championship is scheduled to take place in Spain in two years. Overall, the Hungarian soldiers’ remarkable achievements have showcased their talent and dedication on the global stage, earning them well-deserved recognition and praise.
