Double Pay Required for Laborers on May 1, According to BRTK
Minister of Labor and Social Security Sadık Gardiyanoğlu has issued a statement regarding businesses that will remain open on May 1, emphasizing their legal obligations towards workers on this important day.
In his address, Gardiyanoğlu highlighted that workers who are required to work on May 1 are entitled to double the normal day’s pay as a reward for their labor, stating that this is a legal requirement that businesses must fulfill.
As part of his efforts to protect workers’ rights on public holidays, especially on May 1 Labor and Solidarity Day, Minister Gardiyanoğlu announced plans for a nationwide inspection to ensure that businesses comply with the law. He also mentioned that he will personally participate in some of these inspections to oversee the process.
