Istanbul Airport Authorities Capture Two Passengers for Smuggling
The Istanbul Police Department Airport Branch Research Bureau teams recently made a significant breakthrough in their fight against smuggling at the airport. During routine inspections within the terminal, the teams identified and apprehended two passengers who were carrying illegal goods.
The suspects, identified as a Russian citizen named TI and a Belarus citizen named A.K, had arrived from Moscow. The teams immediately conducted a thorough search of their belongings and luggage.
To their surprise, the authorities discovered a large quantity of smuggled items. The confiscated goods included 10 mobile phones, 7 cameras, 12 kilograms of hookah tobacco, 200 packs of cigarettes, 60 packs of electronic cigarette filters, 60 electronic cigarettes, 20 electronic cigarette devices, 21 pairs of famous brand shoes, 16 women’s arm bags, 12 mink fur coats, and 6 mink shawls.
Following the discovery, the two suspects were detained, and an investigation is currently underway. It was also revealed that one of the suspects had a history of smuggling activities and was wanted by the authorities.
The Istanbul Police Department Airport Branch Research Bureau teams are commended for their diligence and dedication in combating illegal activities at the airport. Their swift actions have helped prevent these illegal goods from entering the country and potentially harming the economy.
Authorities are urging all passengers to abide by the customs regulations and refrain from smuggling illegal goods into the country. Such actions not only violate the law but also pose a threat to national security.
