Minister of Health Emphasizes Importance of Early Cancer Diagnosis
Minister of Health Dr. Hakan Dinçyürek recently highlighted the significance of battling against cancer and the critical role of early diagnosis in his statement for World Cancer Day, which falls on February 4. He drew attention to the various screening programs for cervical cancer, breast cancer, and colon cancer that are being implemented at the Early Diagnosis Cancer Screening Center affiliated with the Ministry of Health.
Dr. Dinçyürek stressed the importance of early cancer diagnosis and emphasized the Ministry’s support for the public’s fight against cancer through various health programs. He urged the public to participate in regular health screenings and take steps to protect their health.
Despite the significant progress in cancer diagnosis and treatment, Minister Dinçyürek noted that cancer remains a major public health concern. He emphasized the role of environmental factors, such as tobacco use, alcohol consumption, weight management, and exposure to infections, in the development of cancer. He also highlighted the potential for cancer prevention, stating that up to 50% of cases can be prevented by addressing these factors.
Minister Dinçyürek underscored the importance of focusing on preventable types of cancer and the potential for early diagnosis to prevent deaths and improve the quality of life for individuals. He urged the public to take the opportunity presented by World Cancer Day to raise awareness and promote the importance of cancer prevention and early detection.
