Earthquake Update: Antalya Hit by Last Minute Tremor – Magnitude Revealed
An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.5 occurred in Antalya Bay, causing panic in the town center of Alanya. The earthquake, which took place at a depth of 7 kilometers off the coast of Alanya, was felt by many residents in the area. Thankfully, there were no reports of any negative effects from the earthquake.
According to earthquake scientist Prof. Dr. Süleyman Pampal, the Mediterranean region where the earthquake occurred is known for constant seismic activity. He mentioned that it is a collision point of plates and earthquakes are a normal occurrence in the area. However, he also highlighted that more severe earthquakes are expected along the Crete-Rhodes line.
Both the Antalya Governorship and the Alanya District Governor assured citizens that there were no negative reports following the earthquake and that field scanning efforts were ongoing. District Governor Fatih Ürkmezer wished for the well-being of all citizens in the region.
The Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) also confirmed that there were no negative situations reported after the earthquake. They offered their condolences to any affected citizens.
