Easter Concerts at Fonó: A Musical Celebration

The Fonó Buda Music House is gearing up for a series of special programs to celebrate Holy Week and Easter. On April 17, the Havay Viktória, Illés Gábor, and Juhász Dénes trio will be performing at the Music House. This unique project will showcase sacred songs and prayers of the Hungarian Csángós community from Moldova, focusing on the Lenten period, a significant religious celebration for them.

The concert will bring to life traditional folk hymns and prayers, inviting the audience to join in. On Easter Monday, April 21, the Fonó Buda Music House will host the Easter Sprinkling Ball, where dance and music will take center stage with performances by Erdőfű and Csángálló.

The Csángós are a Catholic ethnic group of Hungarian origin living in Romania, preserving traditions that are not commonly found in the Carpathian Basin. Despite assimilation pressures, they continue to speak an archaic Hungarian dialect and maintain their cultural identity.

Erdőfű and Csángálló are dedicated to representing folk music traditions from the Carpathian Basin, with Erdőfű focusing on string traditions and Csángálló drawing inspiration from Transylvanian and Moldovan folk traditions.

The upcoming events at the Fonó Buda Music House promise a unique blend of traditional music and cultural heritage, providing a vibrant celebration for both performers and audience members alike.
