Search and Rescue Operation for Missing Woman in Istanbul’s Belgrade Forest

A search and rescue operation was launched in the Kağıthane Gültepe neighborhood on Sunday, March 2, for a missing woman who was last seen heading to the Belgrade Forest. The search operation involved the participation of relatives, police, AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Authority), UMKE (National Medical Rescue Team), AKUT (Search and Rescue Association), as well as many district municipalities.

The Istanbul Fire Brigade’s Underwater Search and Rescue (Isak) team, along with divers from Sultan Bendi Daligi, also joined the search effort in hopes of locating the missing woman.

During the search, mobile phone and personal belongings belonging to the missing woman, Gürel, were found in the Belgrade Forest. Security camera footage showed her leaving her house and boarding an IETT bus towards the forest area.

Authorities continued their search efforts in the Belgrade Forest to locate Gürel and bring her safely back home. The community is urged to come forward with any information that could help in finding the missing woman.
