EGM issues statement on Antalya incident

A German man, Anton Paul, caused chaos at the Antalya Airport 2nd International Terminal building, according to a statement from the General Directorate of Security. Paul, who was born in Kazakhstan and holds a German passport, was reported to have left his suitcase in the X-ray machine and missed his flight at 19:40.

The statement mentioned that Paul, who appeared to be intoxicated, was seen trying to get free alcoholic drinks from a supermarket and causing a disturbance to the environment. Police officers were called to the scene after reports that Paul was causing trouble at the airport information and ticket sales office. Paul was removed from the terminal building around 23:00 and was handcuffed after repeatedly trying to re-enter.

Medical teams were also called to the scene as Paul was found to be in distress. Unfortunately, Paul was later pronounced dead in the hospital. A judicial investigation has been initiated following instructions from the Public Prosecutor on Duty, and Civil and Police Chief Inspectors have been assigned to conduct an administrative review.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of following airport security procedures and behaving responsibly in public spaces.
