Electricity and Natural Gas Prices Soar in Last Minute Invoice Update – Latest Report

EMRA Announces Tariff Changes Effective April 5th

In a recent written statement from the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA), it has been announced that tariff changes will come into effect starting April 5th.

The adjustments are a result of the rising costs of electricity generation and distribution. As a result, there will be a 25 percent increase in the final electric retail sales prices for residential subscribers, 15 percent for the Public and Special Services Sector, 10 percent for industrial subscribers, and 12.4 percent for agricultural activities subscribers.

With these changes, the amount to be paid for a residential subscriber consuming 100 kilowatt-hours of electricity has been determined as 259.04 pounds.

On the other hand, gas tariffs for residences will remain unchanged. Pipelines and Petrol Transportation Inc. (BOTAŞ) will not apply any changes in the sales price for housing consumers in April. Therefore, the tariff for 1000 cubic meters of natural gas in houses will remain fixed at 5,631 pounds.

Meanwhile, it has been announced that there will be an average increase of 20 percent in final gas sales prices for industrial consumers, in line with the wholesale prices announced by BOTAŞ on their website. Additionally, there will be an average increase in electricity production power plants.

It is important to note that natural gas price tariffs are calculated on a monthly basis, and consumers should stay informed about potential changes in prices.
