Minister of Health Denies Claims of Brain Surgery Operations in Primitive Conditions
Minister of Health Dr. Hakan Dinçyürek has refuted claims circulating on social media and in the media that brain surgery operations have come to a standstill and are being performed in primitive conditions. In a statement, Dinçyürek stated that these claims are completely false and have been thoroughly investigated, revealing no such situation. He also highlighted that the amount of medical devices purchased by hospitals in the last year has reached record levels.
Dinçyürek, along with ministry officials and hospital department heads, recently held a meeting to address the allegations. “Claims of surgeries being conducted under primitive conditions and facing a standstill are baseless,” said Dinçyürek. He commended the success rate of neurosurgery in the country and praised the efforts of healthcare professionals.
The Minister emphasized the availability of innovative brain surgery procedures in certain centers in Turkey, where successful surgeries have been carried out. He also mentioned the implementation of new generation brain surgery techniques under the ministry.
Regarding demands for equipment, Dinçyürek assured that the procurement process for Famagusta State Hospital was underway, with official offers received and in compliance with tender regulations. He promised to complete the process within a week or two.
Dinçyürek underscored the long-standing collaboration between state hospitals and the temporary exchange of devices to ensure surgeries are carried out smoothly. He acknowledged the recent exchange of equipment between hospitals and ongoing tenders for new devices for both Mağusa and Lefkoşa State Hospitals.
In response to leaked internal correspondence, Dinçyürek announced an investigation into the matter and pledged to take necessary legal action if findings are conclusive. He reassured the public that neurosurgery operations are conducted at the highest standards and in safe environments, expressing confidence in the medical team.
