Emergency Landing: British Airways Flight Diverted Due to Passengers Illness

British Airways flight BA 31 from London to Hong Kong made an unexpected landing at Liszt Ferenc International Airport in Budapest late on Sunday evening. The reason for the diversion was a passenger falling ill during the flight.

Due to the extra fuel in the tanks, the plane was overweight which caused the braking system to overheat upon landing. Firefighters at the airport quickly responded by measuring the brake temperatures and cooling them down. Once the brakes were back to normal operating temperature, the aircraft was handed over to maintenance for further inspection.

The 273 passengers and 13 crew members on board are currently waiting at the terminal for British Airways to make a decision on their onward journey. Despite a brief state of emergency being declared, the situation was managed efficiently by the Budapest Airport Facilities Fire Department without the need for external assistance.

One passenger was taken to the South-Pest Central Hospital after the emergency landing due to their health condition. Overall, the incident was handled smoothly and all passengers and crew are safe.
