Teknofest TRNC: Igniting the Dreams of Young Innovators
In a vibrant celebration of innovation, the opening ceremony of Teknofest TRNC unfolded with enthusiasm and inspiration, marked by the words of Türkiye’s President of the Presidency of Defense Industry, Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün. He emphasized, “All the technologies we develop are designed in the minds of our young people, fermented in their hearts, and come to life with their hands.” This sentiment resonated deeply as attendees experienced the dynamic atmosphere of the festival.
Görgün reflected on the journey of Teknofest, which began seven years ago in Istanbul as a visionary dream and has blossomed into the world’s largest aviation, space, and technology festival. He expressed pride in how the event has united millions under a shared passion for technology and national pride, affirming that it continues to expand its reach every year.
“The festival has transformed our youth and, in truth, has transformed us all,” he remarked, emphasizing that it serves as a platform for young innovators who longed for recognition. “Teknofest has shone a light on the talent that awaited discovery like a dormant fault line yearning to be activated,” he added, illustrating the festival’s role in unleashing the energy and creativity of young minds.
As the first Teknofest unfolds in Cyprus, Görgün noted its significance, characterizing the event as a meaningful convergence of dreams between the two regions. He acknowledged the challenges faced, particularly in the defense sector, underscoring Türkiye’s painful history of reliance on external forces.
Drawing lessons from the Cyprus Peace Operation, he said, “We learned that without strong communication, battles cannot be won.” Despite facing numerous challenges, including embargoes, Türkiye has achieved remarkable advancements, boasting over 100,000 employees in its defense industry today.
Görgün heralded Teknofest as a beacon of hope not just for Türkiye but for humanity, highlighting the wide array of technological advancements being showcased—from armored vehicles to unmanned aerial systems. “We have shattered the limitations imposed on our dreams and opened new horizons for our youth,” he declared with conviction.
Invoking the spirit of perseverance, he encouraged the youth, stating, “Nothing is impossible for those who dare to dream.” This call to action is a reminder of the limitless potential within each young individual at Teknofest.
