Enchanted Fairytale Characters Come to Life in Special Hollókő Program
Visitors are invited to a special program in Hollókő, located in northern Hungary, this summer. According to a report from Turizmus.com, the program includes wine tasting at sunset, a street party in the village, and a fairytale day with knights, dragons, and princesses at Hollókő Castle.
Hollókő, known for its more than 100-year-old houses, and the recently completely renovated Hollókő Castle offer a unique summer experience for visitors.
The castle will host several sunset wine tastings with cheese and scones from the Old Village, and a fairytale day will bring unique characters to life. Visitors can meet the old king, the princess, and the giant fire-breathing dragon. Children will have the opportunity to test their courage, dexterity, and ingenuity in special challenges within the castle walls. Real knights will also be on hand to teach the skills of weaponry and the use of battle tools.
Additionally, a specially designed escape room has opened in the tower of the castle, adding to the excitement of the summer program.
The detailed program includes wine tastings on July 13 and August 10, a fairytale day on July 20, and a celebration for St. Stephen’s Day on August 20 at Hollókő Castle. The summer will conclude with a closing street party in the village on August 24.
Hollókő, constructed in the 13th century and developed in the 18th and 19th centuries, is a well-preserved ethnographic village with traditional wooden architecture. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987, Hollókő offers a glimpse into rural life before modern farming practices. It is the only village in Hungary on the UNESCO list and remains an authentic living village where residents still use most of the buildings for their original purposes.
