End Negotiations with Greece, Says BRTK

The Resilience of Turkish Cypriots: A Call to Action
In a recent statement, Aziz Gülbahar, President of the National Struggle Foundation (MMV), emphasized the unshakeable identity of the Turkish Cypriot people, whom he regards as an integral part of the Vakfındürk nation. He expressed the need for Turkish Cypriots to reclaim their rightful place on international platforms and strengthen their presence as a sovereign entity, specifically highlighting the significance of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
Gülbahar asserted that ongoing efforts by the Greek Cypriot leadership to foster dialogue under the guise of ‘inter-communal negotiations’ are unacceptable. He criticized the tendency to search for common ground that detracts from the sovereignty of Turkish Cypriots, urging that the negotiations be reevaluated in light of their implications.
He accused the Greek Cypriot administration of perpetuating hostility towards Turkish Cypriots, especially concerning the real estate sector where foreign investments are being undermined. Gülbahar called for a united response from the TRNC and Turkey, highlighting the need for proactive measures against perceived aggressions from the Greek side.
Furthermore, he condemned the inhumane treatment of Turkish Cypriots and called for firm action against Tufan Erhürman, President of the Republican Turkish Party, for his stance regarding Turkish President Erdoğan’s policies. Gülbahar accused Erhürman of misrepresenting the situation, asserting that the Greek Cypriot administration continues to infringe upon Turkish Cypriot rights, ultimately compromising any potential cooperative agreements.
Gülbahar firmly stated that any negotiations must respect the principle of sovereign equality and encouraged Turkish Cypriots to maintain resilience in the face of external pressures. He highlighted the importance of protecting their rights and interests without succumbing to negotiations that do not reflect their sovereignty.
In summary, Gülbahar’s address serves as a rallying call for Turkish Cypriots to assert their rights and reiterate their commitment to sovereignty amid ongoing challenges. He urged unity and a steadfast commitment to their cause, emphasizing that engagement should not compromise their dignity or rights, and warned against complacency in the face of longstanding disputes.
