End of Legislative Year today – BRTK

The legislative year is coming to a close as the General Assembly of the Republic Assembly convenes for its final session today. After completing its auditing mission, the Parliament will enter into summer recess, with plans to reconvene for the new legislative year in the first week of October.

Despite the recess, committees within the Parliament will continue their work throughout the summer months. A motion regarding the operation of parliamentary committees during the recess was unanimously approved yesterday.

Additionally, an extraordinary meeting of the General Assembly is expected to take place to address various laws on the agenda. During yesterday’s meeting, several bills, including the “Implementation Protocol (Approval) Bill for the Intelligent Transportation Systems Project between the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the Government of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus,” were postponed for discussion in the first extraordinary meeting.

Other bills such as the “Memorandum of Understanding (Approval) in the Field of Construction Works between the Government of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and the Government of the Republic of Turkey,” “Cyprus Turkish Realtors Association Bill Proposal,” “Housing Acquisition (Amendment) Bill,” and “Medals and Decorations (Amendment) Bill” will also be addressed during the upcoming extraordinary meeting of the General Assembly.

As the Parliament prepares to enter its summer recess, there is much anticipation for the legislative agenda in the new year and the discussions to take place during the extraordinary meeting. Stay tuned for updates on the developments within the General Assembly of the Parliament.
