Endangered Wire Cranes Experience Growth in Numbers

The General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks is carrying out a Crane Action Plan and Monitoring Studies in Turkey. Recently, the DKMP 11th Regional Directorate conducted monitoring studies in Amasya province, where it was discovered that the wire crane had previously bred and made new nests in recent years.

The monitoring was carried out by the Hunting and Wildlife Branch Manager and technical staff, who observed wire cranes, their puppies, and the previous year’s pup during the brood rearing period. The results of the monitoring showed that the puppies were growing.

This initiative is a part of the 2023 monitoring studies aimed at protecting and preserving the ecological balance in Turkey. The General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks is committed to safeguarding the environment and ensuring the sustainability of wildlife. As such, they are implementing various programs and plans to protect endangered species and their habitats.

The wire crane is one of the protected species in Turkey and is facing threats such as habitat loss and hunting. Through these monitoring studies, the General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks aims to gather accurate data to help preserve and promote the growth of the crane population.

Overall, the efforts being taken by the General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks are a positive step in the right direction towards protecting Turkey’s biodiversity. It is important that we continue to prioritize the protection of our cherished wildlife species and their habitats.
