Hungary and Serbia Discuss Energy Cooperation to Ensure Security
Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó, emphasized the importance of Serbia as a partner of “strategic importance” during talks with Dubravka Đedović, Serbia’s energy minister. Szijjártó highlighted the need for closer cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector to enhance energy security.
The recent energy crises have underscored the importance of collaboration in the energy field, especially for countries lacking sufficient mineral and energy resources. Szijjártó mentioned the need for joint investments in energy infrastructure, including the establishment of another interconnector between the electricity grids of Hungary and Serbia, as well as the construction of the first crude oil pipeline.
The minister criticized certain global players for imposing sanctions and restrictions that impede energy cooperation between allies. He emphasized the need for solidarity and cooperation in the face of challenges in the energy sector.
The discussions between Hungary and Serbia reflect a commitment to strengthening energy cooperation to ensure security and stability in the region. Both countries are looking to enhance their energy infrastructure and work together to address common challenges in the field of energy security.
