Minister Tekin Attends Award Ceremony for Essay Competition
Minister Tekin recently participated in the award ceremony for the essay competition titled “Living from the Pen of International Students in Türkiye.” The event was organized by the Turkish Language and Literature Association (TDED) with the support of the Presidency of Turks and Relative Communities (YTB).
During the program, Minister Tekin highlighted the importance of mother tongue in education. He emphasized the significance of the event in the current period of Türkiye, noting the contrast between politicians who complain about their country’s political interests to foreign media and organizations and those who are content living in Türkiye.
In response to a civil servant union’s desire to teach LGBT topics in schools, Minister Tekin emphasized the balance between union freedoms and fundamental rights and freedoms. He stressed the importance of respecting all individuals’ rights while exercising freedom of expression.
Minister Tekin also addressed the challenges faced by children in the education system, particularly the impact of the test-oriented approach on their language skills. He emphasized the importance of prioritizing Turkish education and promoting language development in children from a young age.
Furthermore, Minister Tekin discussed the revisions made to the curriculum to reflect Turkish values and culture accurately. He highlighted the removal of certain ideological concepts and the inclusion of terms that better align with Türkiye’s history and heritage.
Minister Tekin expressed his commitment to promoting the correct learning of mother tongue and instilling cultural values in future generations. He thanked the organizers of the competition and participants for their efforts and pledged continued support from the Ministry of National Education in this endeavor.
