Turkish Embassy in Nicosia Celebrates 102nd Anniversary of Victory Day
A reception was recently held at the Turkish Embassy in Nicosia to commemorate the 102nd anniversary of August 30 Victory Day. The event was attended by distinguished guests including President Ersin Tatar, Parliament Speaker Zorlu Töre, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, and other government officials, military personnel, and citizens.
Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Nicosia, Yasin Ekrem Serim, welcomed the guests alongside other notable figures at the embassy entrance. The reception began with a reading of a message from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, followed by a speech by Ambassador Serim.
During his speech, Ambassador Serim highlighted the importance of the victory in the War of Independence and the Turkish nation’s unwavering commitment to independence. He announced plans to ensure that Turkish Cypriot veterans receive the same rights and privileges as veterans in Turkey.
Furthermore, Ambassador Serim emphasized Turkey’s steadfast support for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and its vision for a two-state solution. He underscored Turkey’s commitment to promoting peace, security, and stability in the region, as well as the TRNC’s increasing international recognition and cooperation.
The reception concluded with a musical performance by various artistic groups. Ambassador Serim paid tribute to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, martyrs, veterans, and all those who sacrificed for their homeland. The event served as a reminder of the strong historical ties and shared values between Turkey and the TRNC.
