Entering a New Era in Offshore Energy Exploration
Minister Alparslan Bayraktar, Turkey’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, recently made an exciting announcement on social media. In his post, he shared that a historic moment for Turkey had taken place as President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Oruç Reis Seismic Research Ship set sail for Somalia from the Bosphorus.
“We have started a new era in natural gas and oil exploration at sea,” Bayraktar stated. The Oruç Reis ship has already gathered data by scanning 23,000 kilometers in the Blue Homeland and has now embarked on a mission to search for natural gas and oil in three sea areas of 5,000 square kilometers each in Somalia.
Bayraktar emphasized that Turkey is now making significant strides towards energy independence by utilizing its experience and strong infrastructure in the international arena. The goal is to increase resource diversity and achieve full energy independence. As the Oruç Reis ship sets sail on this important mission, Bayraktar expressed his hopes for a smooth journey ahead, saying, “May the rudder be smooth and the wind easy.”
