Environmental Platform Protests Against Irregular Construction and Sea Pollution in İskele
The Environmental Platform organized a protest today at Long Beach in İskele, highlighting concerns over irregular construction, infrastructure problems, and sea pollution in the area.
Supported by 50 civil society organizations, the action aimed to raise awareness about the importance of a clean sea and environment. Banners with messages such as “If we protect nature, nature will protect us” and “either nature will be protected or life will end” were displayed during the protest to emphasize the significance of preserving the sea and nature.
Feriha Tel, Chair of the Green Peace Movement, spoke on behalf of the Environmental Platform and expressed concerns about the rampant and uncontrolled construction in İskele. Tel emphasized the need to plan every inch of the area responsibly and ensure the protection of the environment for future generations.
Tel also pointed out the alarming shift from blue flag seas to black flag seas in the country, calling for immediate action to halt irregular construction and prioritize environmental conservation.
The protest, which was attended by CTP deputies and various civil society groups, shed light on the pressing issues facing İskele and stressed the urgency of taking concrete steps to address environmental challenges in the region.
