Ercan Saatçi Detained in Corruption Investigation by IMM
Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has announced that in the scope of two separate investigations conducted on terrorism and organized crimes, a total of 79 suspects, including Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) President Ekrem Imamoglu, Beylikdüzü Mayor Murat Çalık, Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan, and singer Ercan Saatçi, have been detained.
The Prosecutor’s Office has initiated investigations against IMM President Ekrem Imamoglu and 99 suspects on charges of “being a criminal organization manager”, “being a member of a criminal organization”, “bribery”, “qualified fraud”, “seizing personal data”, “violating the tender”, and “aiding the PKK/KCK terrorist organization”. Security forces have organized an operation to the identified addresses in Istanbul to carry out the custody decisions.
During the operation, a total of 79 suspects, including Ekrem İmamoğlu, IMM President Advisor Murat Ongun, Beylikdüzü Mayor Murat Çalık, Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan, and singer Ercan Saatçi, were detained. The suspects were taken to the Vatan Campus of the Istanbul Police Department for further procedures after a health check.
Furthermore, a search was conducted at Imamoglu’s residence as part of the operation. The Prosecutor’s Office is continuing its investigation into the detained individuals and the allegations brought against them.
