President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Inaugurate Namazgah Mosque in Albania
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is scheduled to visit Albania on October 10 to attend the grand opening of the Namazgah Mosque in Tirana, the capital of Albania. The construction of the mosque, which started in 2015 with the support of Turkey, has now been completed.
Enes Baştür, Türkiye’s first in reciting the adhan in 2024, has been appointed as the imam of the Namazgah Mosque. The mosque, which is said to be the largest in the Balkans, features four 50-meter-high minarets and a 35-meter-high dome, with architectural details reminiscent of the Ottoman era. It has the capacity to accommodate a total of 10 thousand worshippers both inside and outside the mosque at the same time.
Aside from serving as a place of worship, the Namazgah Mosque also functions as a social center with facilities such as a cultural center, library, exhibition hall, conference hall, and Quran school. Additionally, a “Museum of Living Together” will be established next to the mosque.
The mosque is expected to play a significant role in the cultural and social life of Tirana, going beyond its primary function as a place of worship. President Erdoğan’s visit to inaugurate the mosque signifies the strong bond between Turkey and Albania in promoting cultural and religious exchange.
